Role
Embedded Software Engineer
Salt Farm, Catholicism And Hakka was a captivating technical art exhibit created by Hong Kong artist Kenny Wong. The exhibit showcased a large autonomous structure consisting of 20 movable square devices, each equipped with projection mapping capabilities.
As the embedded software engineer for the project, my role was to design and implement the electronic schematics and software systems that powered this unique exhibit. I leveraged my expertise in embedded C, TCP, ESP32, and autonomous device development to bring the exhibit to life.
One of the key challenges I faced was developing a robust position tracking system for the individual devices. This involved integrating sensors and actuators to accurately track the movement of each square device in real-time. Additionally, I implemented a network communication protocol that allowed seamless coordination and synchronization of movement between the devices.
Through my contributions, the Salt Farm Catholicism And Hakka exhibit was able to mesmerize audiences with its synchronized movements and projected visuals. The seamless integration of technology and art created a truly immersive experience, leaving a lasting impact on all who interacted with it.
